Symposia

The follow-up conference of 2020 (which was canceled due to the pandemic), jointly organized with the European Physical Society (EPS) and the Institute of Physics (IOP), was held from 8-10. June 2022 at Trinity College, Dublin. Topic: The Road to Modern Physics. echophysics was represented on the advisory board.

The 3rd International Conference on the History of Physics (under the auspices of the European Physical Society) was held jointly with the 4th Early-Career Conference for Historians in the Physical Sciences (American Institute of Physics) from 17-21 October 2018 in Donostia-San Sebastian (Spain). Dr. P. M. Schuster initiated the “PhysicsEstoire” prize, which was awarded to Jim Bennett (retired director of the Museum of the History of Science in Oxford).

As part of the International Conference Series on the History of Physics, the 2nd International Conference on the History of Physics will take place from September 5th to 7th, 2016 in Pöllau near Hartberg. The title of the conference is "Invention, application and exploitation in the history of physics". The conference is jointly organized by the European Physical Society, the Institute of Physics and Echophysics; Conference chairman is Dr. Peter M. Schuster.

In the Pöllau Days of the History of Physics, topic: Heavenly and Earthly Time, international experts report on concepts of time, astronomical time calculation and earthly time measurement, cosmological, geological and biological temporal developments, the concept of time in physics, as well as on a time without clocks and the end of time.

Following the conference in Innsbruck (May 1-3, 2012), an international historically oriented symposium will take place in Pöllau from May 3-5, 2012. The plan is to take participants from Innsbruck by bus to Pöllau, where the original equipment with which Hess made his discovery, as well as his private estate and Nobel Prize certificate, can be viewed at the European Center for the History of Physics ECHOPHYSICS. Shuttle bus transfers from Graz and Vienna to this symposium are also planned. Details will be announced here.
