The European Physical Society (EPS) honors the research memorial 'Victor Franz Hess Messstation' at Hafelekar near Innsbruck with the predicate 'Historic Site'. The measuring station in the alps of Victor Franz Hess, who received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1936 for the discovery of cosmic rays, was restored and restaged for visitors with the cooperation of the University of Innsbruck, Rath & Winkler and the Victor Franz Hess Society in Pöllau.

The opening of the Historic Site will take place on September 29, 2022, 11:00, in the presence of selected, invited guests.
