Peter Maria Schuster suggested awarding a so-called "PhysicsEstoire" prize for distinguished scientific achievements in the field of the history of physics at the "International Conference on the History of Physics".
Due to the unexpected death of Peter Maria Schuster in 2019 and in recognition of his contributions to conferences on the history of physics, the International Advisory Committee decided to rename the prize "The Schuster History of Physics Prize".
The prize is valued at €1000, half of the funding is provided by the Austrian Physical Society (ÖPG), the other half is shared by the History of Physics Group of the Institute of Physics (IOP) and the European Physical Society (EPS).
The Schuster Prize for the History of Physics is awarded for exceptional achievements in advancing knowledge in the history of physics and for improving our understanding of physicsl concepts.
